Title: Aboriginal outreach worker (for Seniors)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Part Time, Day
Salary: $14.00 Hourly for 24 hours per week, As per collective agreement
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba (1 vacancy)
Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school, Completion of college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Not required
Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Work Setting: Community or neighbourhood centre
Target Groups or Clients: Seniors, Aboriginal groups
Type of Community or Social Service: Socio-economic needs or conditions (housing, nutrition, unemployment, financial assistance)
Specific Skills: Obtain information and prepare reports or case histories, Appraise clients' needs or eligibility for specific services, Conduct follow-up assessments, Resolve conflict situations, Provide personal services support to persons with special needs, Liaise with other social services agencies and health care providers involved with clients, Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research
Additional Skills: Administrative and office activities, Research techniques
Security and Safety: Basic security clearance, Criminal record check, Driver's validity licence check, Driving record check (abstract)
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Work under pressure
Transportation/Travel Information: Own transportation, Valid driver's licence, Public transportation is available
Work Location Information: Urban area
Ability to Supervise: 5-10 people
Essential Skills: Document use, Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Job task planning and organizing, Significant use of memory, Finding information, Computer use
