Communication Officer Full-time

Key responsibilities
Continuous Improvement - Geneva
• To ensure correct and timely release of CI newsletter in electronic form
• To assess essential requirements and implement applicable layout standards, following the SGS corporate guidelines
• To liaise with CI Geneva in the contents of the newsletter
SGS in the Philippines
• To produce the SGS in the Philippines company newsletter. Performs variety of editorial duties, such as laying out, indexing, and revising content of written materials, in preparation for final lay outing and publication.
• To plan, write, and/or review internal communications. This includes electronic pop-ups, graphic animations, bulletin board materials, etc.
• To maintain repository of internal communications materials.
• To support SGS in the Philippines marketing initiatives by designing and preparing promotional literature
• To plan and organize company sponsored communications activities, such as General Assemblies
Main tasks and duties
Editorial
• Allocate print space for story text, photos, and illustrations according to space parameters and copy significance, using knowledge of layout principles.
• Arrange for copyright permissions.
• Assign topics, events and stories to individual writers for coverage.
• Confer with management and editorial staff members regarding placement and emphasis of developing news stories.
• Develop story or content ideas, considering reader or audience appeal.
• Meet frequently with artists, typesetters, layout personnel, marketing managers, and production managers to discuss projects and resolve problems.
• Oversee publication production, including artwork, layout, computer typesetting, and printing, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budget requirements.
• Plan the contents of publications according to the SGS’s style, editorial policy, and publishing requirements.
• Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, or supervise others who do this work.
• Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax.
• Read material to determine index items and arrange them alphabetically or topically, indicating page or chapter location.
• Read, evaluate and edit manuscripts or other materials submitted for publication and confer with authors regarding changes in content, style or organization, or publication.
• Review and approve proofs submitted by composing room prior to publication production.
• Verify facts, dates, and statistics, using standard reference sources.
Multi-Media
• Apply story development, directing, cinematography, and editing to animation to create storyboards that show the flow of the animation and map out key scenes and characters.
• Assemble, typeset, scan and produce digital camera-ready art or film negatives and printer's proofs.
• Convert real objects to animated objects through modeling, using techniques such as optical scanning.
• Create pen-and-paper images to be scanned, edited, colored, textured or animated by computer.
• Create two-dimensional and three-dimensional images depicting objects in motion or illustrating a process, using computer animation or modeling programs.
• Develop briefings, brochures, multimedia presentations, web pages, promotional products, technical illustrations, and computer artwork for use in products, technical manuals, literature, newsletters and slide shows.
• Make objects or characters appear lifelike by manipulating light, colour, texture, shadow, and transparency, or manipulating static images to give the illusion of motion.
• Participate in design and production of multimedia campaigns, handling budgeting and scheduling, and assisting with such responsibilities as production coordination, background design and progress tracking.
• Script, plan, and create animated narrative sequences under tight deadlines, using computer software and hand drawing techniques.
• Use models to simulate the behaviour of animated objects in the finished sequence.
Requirements
Professional qualifications
Graduate of BS Journalism, Business/Corporate/Mass Communication or any Engineering or Business course and with at 3-5 years experience in doing editorial, newsletter production and corporate communications work.
Experience / Technical knowledge
• Able to professionally use In Design and other similar Publishing Software
• Must have 3-5 years experience in conceptualizing and producing corporate newsletter, advertising, public relation and publicity materials, and audio-visual presentations
• Effective project management, interpersonal and communication skills;
• Highly automation-driven and computer literate including but not limited to MS Excel, Ms PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Access, MS Outlook and other
