Assistant Physiotherapist – Alberta - Canada
Position Summary: The Physiotherapy Assistant is an active member of the patient care team who is responsible for performing routine tasks assigned by a Physiotherapist. Included in these responsibilities is the provision of treatment for both outpatients and inpatients directed by a Physiotherapist, departmental and equipment maintenance and clerical functions as required
Qualifications:
Successful completion of academic Grade XII or equivalent required.
Physiotherapy Assistant Certificate required.
Previous experience with patient handling required.
Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position.
Demonstrated competence in electronic communication, Microsoft word and computer knowledge/experience required

Ability to work independently, take initiative and to exercise independent judgment within scope of practice.

Respond to the physical demands such as lifting and handling of physically and cognitively impaired patients and tolerate exposure to heat and high humidity in the hydrotherapy area.
Accept and use constructive criticism for personal and professional growth.
Follow safe work practices and conform to occupational health and safety legislation when handling machinery, tools and hazardous substances.
Supports and delivers quality patient safety standards with the health authority.
Responsible for contributing to the achievement of the health authority’s accreditation standards.
