Title: Ceramic tile installer (Apprentice Ceramic Tile Installer)
Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Weekend, Day, Night
Salary: $20.00 to $21.50 Hourly for 40 hours per week
Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Winnipeg and Area, Manitoba (3 vacancies )
Skill Requirements:
Education: Completion of high school
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): First Aid Certificate, CPR Certificate, WHMIS, Driver's License
Experience: 5 years or more
Languages: Speak English, Read English, Write English
Major Work Area: Construction, Repair
Type of Establishment/Work Setting Experience: Commercial, Residential
Area of Specialization: General tilesetting (floors, walls, ceilings, etc.), Ceramics, Terrazzo work, Marble and granite, Swimming pools, Glass mosaics or murals, Decorative pillars and arches, Food processing and display areas
Materials Used: Ceramic, Mosaic, Marble, Quarry, Slate, Stone, Terrazzo, Granite
Specific Skills: Prepare, measure and mark surfaces to be covered, Mix, apply and spread adhesive substances, Set tiles in place and apply pressure to affix them to base, Align and straighten tiles, Cut and fit tiles around obstacles, Pack grout into joints and between tiles, Remove and replace cracked or damaged tiles, Determine best layout of tiles, Reinforce surfaces or build required underbases, Cut, surface, polish and install marble and granite, Install terrazzo surfaces and polish surfaces by hand or using machines, Install pre-cast terrazzo, granite or marble units
Additional Skills: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications, Work at heights, Instruct apprentices, Supervise other workers
