SENIOR EPIDEMIOLOGIST/MANAGER

SciMetrika, a growing government contractor, has an opening for a senior
epidemiologist at our location in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina. The selected
candidate will manage a newly created statistical and epidemiological group
(Stat&Epi). In that capacity, this individual will oversee our entire portfolio of
epidemiologic projects, including the supervision of statisticians, SAS Programmers,
and other epidemiologists. The position requires strong written and oral communication
skills and the abilities to work both independently and in a team environment. Salary is
competitive and includes performance-based bonuses. Responsibilities: Communicate
with governmental agencies about the technical direction of projects and guide the
overall technical approach to projects. Lead project activities in design, analysis, and/or
reporting for small- and large-scale epidemiologic studies. Perform analyses, write
descriptive and analytic reports, and assist with other project activities. Plan methods
of designing and conducting epidemiological studies and provide detailed specifications
for collecting data to personnel conducting such studies. Select groups for study and
arrange for collection of data. Conduct studies to find risk factors for diseases.
Supervise junior staff. Collaborate with survey specialists to develop questionnaires.
Collaborate with statisticians to build and run complex statistical models. Interpret
results and report finding to clients. Present data in designated statistical format to
illustrate common patterns. Co-author manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed
journals. Write technical sections of proposals that involve epidemiological methods.
Monitor compliance with quality assurance protocols. Contribute to and/or review
monthly progress reports submitted to the client. QUALIFICATIONS: A PhD in
epidemiology, public health, or a social science-related field. Significant course work
in epidemiology. At least five years of relevant experience in the field. Evidence of
publications and presentations; a writing sample may be requested; and previous
experience as a project manager is preferred (PMP certification desirable, but not
